Summer Romance

Summer Romance
by kenny merrell

I think of you in summer
White hot
Scorching my very soul
Sizzling sounds in the sunlight
Lost within the moment of a kiss
Inflamed I whimper in madness
Withering heat intense beyond belief
We met within the summer heat spell
You my only relief
I think of you as the cooling breeze at midnight
My oasis as I face a life of thirst
You my only salvation
My one and only from the first
How cool I feel when I hold you closely
My heart rhythmic in my chest
A summer romance turned into a lifetime
The flame forever at its best

When Shadows Fall

When Shadows Fall
by kenny merrell

When shadows fall as sunlight pales
And evening overtakes the day
We stand in awe as nighttime sounds
Make symphonies of nature’s way
Hand in hand we marvel and wonder how
We arrived at this, our moment in time
To greet our love in memories
Oh! Such a life to live divine
In a cosmos of wild energy
Explosions filled the air
As we laugh and dance recalling,
Such a torrid love affair
How simple we thought it was to marry
And begin a life brand new
Never giving second thoughts of
The trials we traveled through
Now we stand upon this mountain high
And thank the Lord above
As shadows fall and once more
We live our life in love
