The Ceremony
The Ceremony
A couple stands within
The circle of God' sacred altar
Repeating vows passed down from ancient time
It matters not the venue
Be it lofty church, courthouse steps
Or the strip in Las Vegas town
Delivered by a man of holy letters,
A justice of the peace, a man dressed as Elvis Presley
‘Tis the words that make the solemn pledge resound
The union will be written in God's Holy Journal
To remain forever locked in rhyme
It may only be a whispered tender voice
Saying, “I love you!”
Such renderings happen all the time
They stand poised upon a life, devoted to love
Two hearts beating as one. With future happiness to share
Love has turned their lives around
No longer living in despair
