Apparition

What is it about you
That makes me not let go
You are so far in the distant past
Only a shadow of thought
But there is still a glimmer of recognition
An apparition of beauty lost
It could be someone to justify
My own existence
By memories of long ago
If I saw you today
Would I know you?
Have we drifted so far apart
To be unrecognizable
Only this image remains
Adjusted to fit within my own psyche
Love once felt never disappears
Sometimes lying untouched in the mind
But still unreconciled within the heart
