where doth this soul rest

Where doth this soul rest
Does it live within the heart
Keeping life’s timetable
Beating in our breast
At times deeply entwined
Among the thoughts
And memories of the mind
Or must it rest within our entrails
Trailing through the body deep
During emotional conflicts
Or just before we weep

Where doth it rest, this soul
Does it become a flower
Blooming at the grave
Tightly held within the ground
By roots enslaved
Does it drift up to Heaven
To live with angels in flight
Or must it remain earthbound
Waiting for the light

Sing the songs of devotion
Allow your soul to grow
To fill the body cavity
To give the eyes a glow
Follow God’s revelations
And when this time is o’er
Our time on earth blessed
We will have the answer
Where doth this soul rest
